ROLLCAGES

If you get a 6 or 8 point cage through us, we will always file paperwork with Motorsport New Zealand for homologation. Countless times we have seen cages not homologated elsewhere causing issues a few years down the track, so rest assured the information about your cage will be lodged and you simply need a scrutineer to insect it before painting to have a MSNZ logbook issued for you.

Usually we need your car for about a week, and we take bookings between 1 - 3 weeks in advance. We offer weekend drop-off and pick-ups, and can arrange pick up or delivery for you if required.

6 point roll cages - our most common installation, these are a full cage with double side intrusion bars, a main hoop, front lateral bars, rear stays, harness bar and a cross in the rear bars. 6-points are the minimum level for most drift battle, time-attack or circuit events (and are a requirement to drift the main circuit aka track 2 section at Taupo Motorsport Park). We will also install windscreen / A-pillar gussets if your windscreen is removed, and if there's a certain look you're after we can customise your cage to preference with more or less bars. We also complete the homologation paperwork to future-proof your investment if you sell the car down the track. A 6 point cage is also accepted for street-use cars if you have seats & harnesses within spec, and obtain an authority card via Motorsport New Zealand.

Half cages - these are rear only cages (also referred to as a 4-point) are a basic option for a bit of peace of mind, that don't require an Authority card for street-use if they don't extend forward of the driver. A half cage doesn't have side intrusion so won't allow you to compete in Motorsport officiated events, but are accepted at most grass-roots days. While we usually offer weld-in cages, we can make a bolt-in cage so you can utilise your back-seat when the cage is not installed.

8 point roll cages - this is a full rollcage that also extends through the firewall to the strut-towers. We build these to all the same specifications as the 6-point cage including the MSNZ homologation paperwork. These provide a higher level of driver-protection in the event of a frontal collision as the strut towers are tied in, this is the cage we installed in Jo's AE86 though some chassis are more difficult to achieve these cages if engine bay space is tight.

We have also fabricated a number of 4-seater 'drift-taxi' style rollcages (which are also MSNZ approved) for something a bit different, we can add side-intrusion bars to existing half cages, re-design your side bars to suit a new seating position or new owner, we can install cage kits and repair bars after incidents. Everything we do is to spec, able to be extended in future and signed off by MSNZ when required - so if you have a project you need to add some protection to, don't hesitate to get in touch

Whether you have a street-car dabbling in some on-track antics, a drift project or a circuit seeking racecar, we can sort your roll protection requirements and offer guidance if you're not sure what you need. We also recommend you check with the organisers of the events you're wanting to be at, what their roll-protection requirements are.
